Hartford, Connecticut: American Publishing Company, 1890. Published 1890. Fair to good condition. Hard-to-find volume concerning religion and prophecy, covering such topics as eclipses, earthquakes and other natural disasters as heavenly signs. Describes America's greatest problems in the future as Romanism and Socialism. Includes fifteen of sixteen rather dramatic and luridly colored chromolithographed plates, the frontis absent, double-page map at rear. Golden tan cloth lettered and elaborately decorated in gilt and black, 534 pages plus map. Some cover wear and soil, mainly rubbing to the edges with some fraying to the lower spine end, surface of rear joint cloth split partway up, small dark. Hinges internally reglued and secure, text block sound, pages clean with two pages having a few short underlines and a note, tiny dampstain at lower outer corner of several pages near the middle of the book, not affecting the printed areas. . Hard Cover. Fair. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
