A Very Good, pink purple cloth binding with silver illustration on front board and silver lettering on spine, binding intact, heavily sunned spine, some handling/scuffing to boards, bit of sunning to board margins, deckle fore-edge, crimping to spine edges, spine buckram starting to separate from backing material, some age toning to pages, some rubbing to board edges, bit of discoloration to pastedowns and endpapers, small soiled spot top text block edge, small rub mark bottom text block corner, bumped bottom rear board corner, without Dust wrapper. This particular edition of this well known decadent novel in english translation, often illustrated, is illustrated here by the obscure but fascinating artist Lotan Welshans. It is a very handsome production in every respect from paper to typography. To the best of my knowledge, the only major book illustrated by this artist.
