Superman is one of the most popular fictional superheroes of all time, published by DC Comics. Superman appeared in various radio shows, newspaper comics, and eventually television and movie premiers. Because of his popularity, the name Superman has become synonymous with the American comic book. The book is the first novelization of a comic book character, and the first Superman story written by someone other than Jerry Siegel. It was Lowther who first provided many now-familiar details of Superman's birth and early life.
