Frontis and 8 chromolithograph plates plus numerous B&W woodcut vignettes, fold-out hand-colored map of the continents. Condition is VERY GOOD+ ; both hinges a little tender. Frontis pg is detached but present. Covers very clean and spine titles bright. Corners and spine ends worn. Text bright with a few spots, plates all very good. Scarce first American edition. Chapters on the science of the atmosphere and also a number on ballooning. Sci. Rare. RGR.
