NY: Scribners, 1898. First. Cloth. Very Good. First American edition. Deep brick-colored cloth lettered in gilt; 335 pps. with one leaf of publisher's ads at rear; folding map and four portraits. A history of African events of the 19th century from a primarily British point of view. Hinges split but a tight copy nonetheless, all gilt bright; loss to the top edge of the spine strip.
