N.Y.: R.F. Fenno and Company, 1897 Book. Fair to Good. Hardcover. First ( No Additional printings). 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall. Original green cloth decorated in green and gold on boards. Previous owner's name. Binding shaken and threatening to separate. P. 7 has thumb-sized piece of gutter margin missing, barely touching text. Translated from the Polish by Vatslaf A. Hlasko and Thomas H. Bullick. This novel seems to have appeared shortly after Quo Vadis, by which the author became world famous, leading to his reception of the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1905.
