Previous owner's name. Binding shaken and threatening to separate. P. 7 has thumb-sized piece of gutter margin missing, barely touching text. Translated from the Polish by Vatslaf A. Hlasko and Thomas H. Bullick. This novel seems to have appeared shortly after Quo Vadis, by which the author became world famous, leading to his reception of the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1905.
