First edition. Oblong folio (13 3/8 x 19 1/8 inches; 340 x 485 mm.). [4], 56; [2], 18 pp. Title and text in double columns of Spanish and English, with French text at end (with separate title-page: Album du chemin de fer Mexicain...Texte Français. Traduit de l'espagnol par G. Gostkowski). Added chromolithographed title, twenty-four chromolithographed plates, and double-page chromolithographed map. The plates include views of Veracruz, Cordoba, Orizaba, Maltrata, Huamantla, Puebla, and illustrations of stations, locomotives, freight and passenger trains, bridges, and tunnels.
Publisher's deluxe binding of red morocco by A. Lenegre, Paris. Covers ruled in blind and pictorially stamped in gilt and blind with front cover lettered in gilt and blind (and dated 1878 with initials A.B.). White moiré paper endleaves. Short tear in the lower margin of plates XX and XXII, not affecting image, short split to double-page map at fold. Occasional foxing and offsetting. Tissue guards slightly browned (and a few torn). Overall, an exceptional copy of this extremely rare work.
