About This Item

Paris: Centre Georges Pompidou, 1979. First Edition. Hardcover with Dust Jacket. Very Good+/Good+. 4to. Pp. 231. Illustrated with rotogravure reproductions of black & white photographs. Introduction by Jean Millier. Text in French and English. Brilliant red cloth, titles stamped in pink on the cover and spine, red bookmark ribbon bound in: merest hint of age toning to edges, leaves crisp and bright. In the two-color photo illustrated dust jacket: small edge chips and age toning across the top and bottom. A bright copy. Photographer De Fenoÿl organized several exhibitions of photographs in the first few years of the Centre Pompidou. This first and only album in a projected annual series is not an exhibition catalog but seeks "to present the evolution of photographic vision from the beginning up to today" without using well-known images.

Text and bibliography by Christiane Caujolle. Work by Victor Regnault, Félix Teynard, Émile Puyo, Theo Blanc and Antoine Demilly, Heinz Hajek-Halke, Umbo, Paul Nash, Willy Ronis, William Klein, Burk Uzzle, Richard Kalvar, Victor Burgin, Tom Drahos, Jean-Christophe Rigozzi, and Keiichi Tahara.

Dust jacket preserved in a clear, removable archival sleeve.
