About This Item

London: Unpublished, 1936. Postmarked London E.C., 26 JU[ne] 1936. Boldly Signed with Crowley's Phallic "A". Typed, with Corrections in A.C.'s Hand in Fine condition, on Abermill Bond watermarked paper, dated June 26th, 1936, together with a Fine example of the Rare, Four-Page "The Equinox of the Gods" Prospectus, in original Envelope, Stamped with return address in The Beast 666's hand. Addressed and intended for Rev. William Ralph Inge (1874-1954), Dean of St. Paul's Cathedral, expert on mysticism (especially Plotinus), theology, social and philosophical issues. According to Churton (2011, 24 fn. 44), "Crowley wrote to Inge at least twice. Inge replied to one of these letters". This correspondence was returned with envelope stamped "Undelivered for Reason Stated - Return to Sender" with handwritten note on verso "Gone Away...", which explains the Exceptional/Remarkable condition. Verso envelope stamped EC 19, and bears RLS 54 Sticker "E. [Crown] R. Officially Sealed In The Returned Letter Section, London Postal Service". Envelope shows Light expected wear, but as above, the Signed Letter is Fine, as is the Equinox of the Gods Prospectus, already a Scarce piece of Crowley Ephemera and truly Rare in condition thus.. Signed. Unpublished from a Private Collection. Enveloped Letter, Prospectus. Fine. Envelope 4¼" x 9½", Items 8" x 10" & 8½"x 11".
