Indianapolis: Bobbs-Merrill, 1966. 8vo, pp. 487. Original pink and blue cloth, lettered in silver on spine. Spine slightly sunned, the whole a little dusty, but a near fine copy in dustwrapper. First edition, INSCRIBED BY THE AUTHOR TO KAY BOYLE : 'For Kay, In all respect and reverence, and in love too. You're marvellous, and I should like one day to be worthy of it, you. Herb. San Francisco July 3, 1966.' Herbert Wilner was a Professor of English at San Francisco State University between 1957 and 1977. Kay Boyle moved to San Francisco in 1963 after the death of her husband, and took a job teaching creative writing at the University.
