New York: D. Appleton & Company Dates: 1868/1869. Bound in 3/4 leather w/ marbled paper covered boards w/ gilt titles and five raised bands on spines. Bindings lightly rubbed w/ wear to corners. Light foxing to endpapers. Vol. 1: Approx. 1 1/4" long tear to top of front inner hinge. Vol. 2: Paper lifts to rear board; light spotting to spine; faint dampstains to outer margins of first several leaves. All volumes illustrated with black and white plates and maps including a large fold-out map in Vol. 2. Overall, shelf presence and contents in quite nice condition.. Hard Cover. Very Good/No Dust Jacket. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall.
