About This Item
New York: Hsatings House, 1949. First Edition. First printing Very good+ in dark blue cloth covered boards with gilt text stamping on the spine and on the front board and with decorated map end papers. The head and heel of the spine are slightly turned in and the hinge areas at the end papers are beginning to tan due to the high acid content of the glue used in binding. This book undetakes what the WPA's American Guide Series was not able to accomplish, that is to create a tour guide for the entire United States in one volume. 1348 pages with an index.
