Stoops. While the vast majority of Americans had regarded Indians as savages, Frank Linderman of Montana promoted positive views of Indians. This began when Plenty Coups, the last traditional chief of the Crow Indians, recounted his life to Frank Bird Linderman in 1928. Though Plenty Coups was now aged 80, he recounted the vision that had set his course in life. When he was about twenty, he said, he had visited a traditional Crow site in the Crazy Mountains and seen himself as an old man. Stamped on page 44: Green Fields, Double A Ranch, Tucson.
