Blue cloth, gilt titles on spine, xxi, 260 pp. Spine cocked and somewhat faded, corners bumped & extremities rubbed, fairly extensive pencil underlining & notes. The Commission was an independent body composed of people not involved in the broadcasting industry, and included such notables as Archibald MacLeish, Reinhold Niebuhr, and Arthur M. Schlesinger. It also proposes specific goals for regulation by the FCC, including making radio and television widely accessible, providing for local news & discussion of public issues, providing for diversity and competition in station ownership, development of non-commercial and educational stations, separating advertising from programming, improving quality of programs, organizing listeners to evaluate radio services, and obtaining First Amendment protection for broadcasters.. 2nd ptg. .
