An association copy of the first edition of Peyrefitte's best-known novel.
Les amitiés particulières is Roger Peyrefitte's (1907-2000) largely autobiographical novel, which deals with an intimate relationship between two boys at a Roman Catholic boarding school and how it is destroyed by a priest's will to protect them from homosexuality. In 1944 the book won the author the Prix Renaudot, and the story was adapted to screen in 1964 by Jean Delannoy.
The present copy is inscribed by Peyrefitte to the French naturalist novelist Lucien Descaves (1861-1949).
