Small folio. Vols. 1 & 2 ( 4 published). Original gilt illustrated cloth. T.e.g. Spine ends frayed and corners rubbed. Bottom board of vol. 2 has a circular imprint. Vol. 1 : Pp. viii + 160, frontispiece + 40 full-page black & white photographic plates of nests and eggs with tissue guards + 21 vignettes. Vol. 2: Pp. 145, frontispiece + 40 plates + 15 vignettes. The final plate and endpaper in vol. 2 is loose. Each plate is dated and the location of the nesting site is given.
