Leningrad, Russia : Khudozhnik RSFSR, 1970. This is an about very good hardcover copy in a very good dust jacket with light wear. Very clean inside and out. Some spotting to toned spine of jacket. Possibly from a private library, but bearing no marks or numbers. There is evidence of a bookplate or possibly pocket removal on the rear endpaper. Otherwise completely clean. Pale yellow silk pagemark present. Text in Russian. Three page summary and list of plates in English. Illustrated in color and black & white. Monograph on the Russian Jewish artist Anatoly L'vovich Kaplan (1902-1980). Born in the Jewish settlement of Pale, in Russia, he lived all his life in Russia, dying in Leningrad in 1980. He concentrated on Jewish themes, illustrated Sholem Aleichem's books, also Gogol's Dead Souls. 9" square, 239 pages. Heavy book foreign shipping may be extra.
