English translation of book published in Russian in 2004. Prof. Stanislav Menshikov (1927-2014) was an eminent Russian economist in the Soviet period and thereafter. He co-chaired the Russian branch of Economists Allied for Arms Reduction. Menshikov's books about the USA, such as U.S. Corporations in World Markets (1958) and Millionaires and Managers (1966) provided a differentiated picture that was unusual during the Cold War. In 1988 his conversations with John Kenneth Galbraith were published in the book Capitalism, Communism, Coexistence. In The Anatomy of Russian Capitalism, Menshikov applied his half-century of research and experience to analyze the first decade of Russia's post-Soviet economic experience, the effects of which still reverberate 30 years later.
