About This Item
London: Printed by J. M'Creery, Black Horse-Court, 1815. Hardcover. Good+. Two works bound together. The interesting copy of the first being: additional engraved title in 4 states (two of these colored), the 32 engraved plates including portrait as called for, and with a number of additional plates in duplicate, bringing the total to over 40 plates. Folio, 12 3/4x10 1/4 inches, contemporary calf rebacked, original spine laid down, rubbed; several plates printed on India paper and laid down, some offsetting and occasional staining, but overall the plates are in excellent condition. Bound at the rear is a suite of etchings of Remarkable Beggars. Engraved title page and 42 plates (of 48). The plates are from the later but fuller collection of plates (23 in the original edition), strikes on wove paper watermarked 1827.
