Edinburgh and London: Printed for William Creech and T. Cadell and W. Davies, 1797. Hardcover. Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Octavos. x, 351; 382; [385] pages. Hardcovers bound in 19th century 3/4 brown leather with plum cloth-covered boards. All edges marbled. Red and black leather labels on the spines. The bindings are rubbed and scuffed but sound. Possible ex-library set with evidence of labels removed from the spines. No interior library markings. The front pastedowns have a prior owner's 1936 signature ("Ian Battle"?) from Edinburgh. Endpapers foxed. The text is toned but generally clean. Complete three volume set.
