Philadelphia: William W. Woodward, 1823. Book. Good. Leather. 1st US edition.. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Volume I only of a two-volume set first published in London in 1820. Divided into eight parts: The Tabernacle Described; The Temple Described; The Ministers of the Temple; The Service of the Temple; The Three Great Festivals; On the Other Feasts and Fasts of the Jews; The Synagogue; and Jewish Idolatry, Sects, and Proselytes. Gilt lettering/rule to spine, pp. xviii, 631. Soiled/scuffed/scraped covers/spine, bumped/worn corners/spine ends, short (3/4" or shorter) tears to spine edges, faded spine gilt, moderately soiled edges, previous owner's signature to top of first end paper, different previous owner's signature to top of title page, front hinge somewhat exposed after first end paper, a bit of looseness up to page vi, some foxing, large soil marks to edges beginning at page 623 and continuing through to rear pastedown, foxing/offsettng to endpapers/pastedowns, small scrape to page 361 (obliterates the word "END" in "END OF VOL. I" notation, but no other loss of text -- see scan on my site). Excepting the not-tight-but-not-detached pages at front, an internally fairly tight copy of an uncommon 200-year-old edition..
