Chesterton is much called as the prince of paradox. Chesterton is popular for his fictional priest-detective Father Brown, and for his reasoned divinity.

The author, as a political analyst, spoke derogatory remarks on Progressivism, a philosophy referred as the Idea of Progress, which states that progress in science, technology, economic development, and social organization are important for the betterment of humanity. Conservatism, on the other hand, a political and social philosophy that helps in retention of traditional social establishments in relevance to culture and civilization. This philosophy seeks to permanently establish religion, monarchy and the social hierarchy as they hyphen solidity and cohesion.
