He was the youngest child of Joseph Bryan, owner of the plantation known as Providence. This is a record of his life in Georgia, starting with the founding of Savannah with Oglethrope, through to his death at age 80, having lived in Georgia for 50 years. Jonathan Bryan was an important civic and political figure in the Georgia and South Carolina colonies, owned a great deal of property in both and owned Brampton Plantation. Book condition is Very Good+; hand sewn binding is firm; there is no foxing, soiling or markings in book. 97pp. First Edition. Brown cloth covered boards have some rubbing to corners, and to the head and tail of spine. Some small spots on back panel. Gilt letter title is bright on front cover. A well preserved copy.

The two plates of coins are numbered page 29* and 32*, but ar enot included in the pagination on ESTC, so I have included them in the plates. In 19th century half leather which is worn, head of spine is torn. Rough pencil outline plan of the town attached to the rear of the frontisipiece. Occasional pencil notes and occasional spotting..

Published in 1867 by Taintor Brothers in New York. The guide features 4 color maps; the "Map of the Anthracite Coal Regions of Pennsylvania with Connecting Railways" is larger and folds out. "With sketches of the cities, villages, stations, scenery, and objects of interest along the route." There are illustrated advertisements at both the front and back. The fold-out map is clean and firmly attached.
