The fourth and final book in this series written by an Army officer with a long and honored career in many parts of the world; he was a Major General at the time he retired. This follows two young officers into Alaska at the beginning of the 20th century and describes the role they played in the opening of the Tanana Valley. Illustrated by R. L. Boyer with a glossy frontispiece with tissue shield and 6 inserted glossy plates. First state binding in gray-green cloth with dark green lettering and illustration inset on front cover. 346 pp
