About This Item
Joliet, IL: For the Author, 1884. Second edition of 1884. Hard Cover. Hinges repaired. Front board spotted (see photos) But tight and square./None. Marshall, a Will County farmer in civilian life, served in the 33rd Illinois Volunteer Infantry from 1861 to 1864. The unit's service was primarily in Missouri so scarce stuff there. They also went down the Mississippi River, spent some time with Army of the TN and completed their service on the Alabama Gulf Coast. A good Midwestern unit history which are not all that common.
There is a faint pencil signature of Noah Preston. The only one by that name to survive the War was a member of the 96th USCT according to my database. He was born in Louisiana.
Nevins I-128. Dornbusch I-IL-164.
