About This Item
Balboa, CA: Newport Harbor Art Museum, 1971. Soft Cover/Stapled. Fine/None as Issued. BRAND NEW Copy w/ink sketch of a tomahawk to back cover. Museum catalog of the Newport Harbor Art Museum, Balboa, California (March 3 - April 11, 1971), and, Pasadena Art Museum, Pasadena, California (May 4 - June, 20, 1971). 1971 marked the Sesquicentennial of the end of Spanish rule on the mainland of North America and seemed fitting to pay tribute to the native arts of Southwest Indians of California, Arizona and New Mexico regions. The catolog includes plates, some in color, of jewelry, pottery, baskets, textiles and ceremonial masks, and even toys and dolls. The over five hundred art pieces on exhibit were assembled from various museums and private collectors.
