This copy with gift inscription, "For Artie (ARTIE SHAW) with love from Rufus and Murray. September 27, 1952." Fly-leaf also has extensive pencil notes, plus small sheet of notes laid-in, consistent with Shaw's handwriting. Top edge of pages has been bumped, effecting the corner of all pages. Dust jacket is toned, has edge wear and small tears and small piece torn from spine area. "Artie Shaw was an American clarinetist and popular bandleader of the 1930s and '40s. " Apart from his interest in music, Shaw had a tremendous intellect and almost insatiable thirst for intellectual knowledge and literature."- wikipedia.
