About This Item
Oxford: Oxford University Press, 1961. First edition. Cloth. Very Good Indeed/Good. 9" by 6.5". Various. The first English translation of Max Eiselin's account of Dhaulagiri. Eiselin was the organizer of the first ascent of the mountain. A firsthand account of this mountaineering expedition up this Nepalese mountain. It is the seventh highest mountain in the world, and the highest mountain within the borders of a single country. Prior to this expedition there were four unsuccessful attempts at the peak. Translated into English from the original German by E Noel Bowman. With the original dustwrapper, which is price-clipped. Illustrated with photographs of the expedition by members. For this work Eiselin has supplemented his own impressions of the climb by the reports of his friends and companions on the ascent, Ernst Saxer, Peter Diener, Ernst Forrer and Albin Schelbert. In the publisher's original cloth binding with price-clipped dustwrapper. Externally, smart. A few handling marks to the cloth. Dustwrapper is sound. Loss to the bottom of the spine and chips to the extremities. Scattered spots to the rear wrap. Rear flyleaf has a large closed tear to the joint. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean. Very Good Indeed
