Spines with raised bands, red titles labels, gilt. The compartments lettered and ruled in gilt. Marbled paper on boards. Not in Sadleir or Wolff.

Inscribed by Gill on the front free endpaper "Eric Gill for H. Davis, 22.3.28" A very good copy in original grey canvas spine, lettered in black, with red paper covered boards with black lettering and illustration to the front board. Some loss to the paper on the boards, affecting 7 letters of the address at the bottom. Spine with just a little darkening. Overall a very good copy. Uncommon inscribed by Gill. --Evan Gill. A beautiful copy of this first English edition of the Author's autobiographical novel, set against the backdrop of the 1905 Russian revolution, inspired by his childhood in Odessa.

Fully illustrated with 50 full page, and 135 smaller engravings by Edmund H. New. Fine bright copy in a beautiful binding of half dark green morocco. Spine with five raised bands, compartments with double gilt ruled borders. Two sections lettered in gilt and the others decorated with gilt design of a bird on a branch. Marbled paper on boards. A lovely copy.

Nims and Knight. Troy. New York. 1889. Calendar printed on 18 stiff sheets of card. (5.9 x 4.5 inches). Complete. Each leaf has a litho colour illustration depicting a scene from Japanese life, printed after fine water colours by J. Pauline Sunter. Twelve of the cards have the month dates printed to the side of the illustration. The lithography is by G. H Beuk & Co, New York. The cards are held together by two metal rings through punched holes at the top, and have a white silk cord, with tassles, threaded through. The cards are stiff white coated paper with silver edges. The front card has damage to the two holes and is now not attached but all others are firmly in place. The front cover is also a little dusty but generally the whole calendar is very good and features some very attractive illustrations. A rare item. No copies listed on Worldcat.

Beautifully illustrated with colour frontis, protected by a printed tissue guard, and 6 full colour tipped in plates, plus 98 line drawings and decorative borders throughout. Finely bound in early half red morocco leather binding by Bayntun (Riviere) of Bath. Spine with five raised bands, the compartments ruled in blind and lettered and decorated in gilt. Red cloth on boards. Marbled endpapers. Top edge gilt. There is a mild stain to the leather at the bottom of the book but overall this is a very attractive copy of this finely illustrated book.

This was changed to Balaoo before publication but after the adverts were typeset. Very good bright, tight copy with previous owners name written neatly in ink to front blank endpaper. Some light foxing to a few pages but still generally a nice fresh copy. Publishers red cloth with blind ruled border and gilt lettering to front board. Spine lettered and ruled in gilt. A particularly nice copy of this rare title by the Author of The Phantom of the Opera. Originally published in French in 1912, Balaoo is the story of a Monkey who is brought up by a Scientist as a human, Mr. Noel. He is educated and can read and write and wears the latest Paris fashions. Balaoo is suspected of committing many crimes, culminating in the kidnapping of Mlle.
