This title comprises "Gulf", "Elsewhen", "Lost Legacy", and "Jerry Was a Man", all of which broadly meditate on what it is that makes one human. The collection was almost immediately picked up for paperback publication by New American Library's Signet imprint. Octavo. Original brick red cloth, spine lettered and ruled in gilt. With Ric Binkley dust jacket. Spine ends and upper board edges gently faded, contents clean. A near-fine copy in like jacket, spine panel lightly rubbed and faded, minor creasing and one tiny nick at edges, faint soiling to rear panel, otherwise bright and sharp. Currey p. 232
Synopsis
Assignment in Eternity, is a collection of four mixed science fiction and fantasy novellas by Robert A. Heinlein, first published in hardcover by Fantasy Press in 1953, with some of the stories somewhat revised from their original magazine publications, as follows: Gulf (written and published in 1949 in Astounding Science Fiction, October-November 1949).
