Lugduni (Lyon): Laurentii Arnaud, Petri Borde, Joannis, & Petri Arnaud, 1658. Original. Hardcover. VG, clean and tight pages. A line of old handwriting (fountain pen?) at bottom of title page and on half title. Small, white ex-lib. numbers on lower spine. General scuffing to covers and wear to edges/corners. Ex libris Rev. Joannis Shanahan (most likely Bishop John Shanahan of the Harrisburg, PA Catholic Diocese, 1899-1916). Pages a bit wavy. A few spots here and there and small tear to bottom of one leaf in the index.. Brown leather/boards. 6 raised bands on spine with gilt decoration and lettering. Red page edges. (14) + 506 + (81). Title page with red/black lettering and bw illus. Typeset in two columns. Text in Latin. Barbosa was a prolific Portuguese writer on canon law. His work included dictionary-type surveys of the legal elements. His works fill at least 30 volumes. They show intimate acquaintance with authors, sources, and controversial questions.
