This is the 70-page edition and there is also a 60-page edition. John was the brother of Samuel Colt who invented the famous revolver. John murdered a man and tried to ship the body to New Orleans. He was found guilty, was then sentenced to hang but opted to kill himself instead, stabbing himself in his own heart. McDade, 205.
