Edited with an Introduction by Nathan G. Goodman. 260 pages, also includes essays and other writings, excerpts from Poor Richard's Almanack. Green balloon cloth, front hinge cracked, binding #7. Blue typograhical dust jacket fair only, with a darkened, brittle, and fragile spine, losses & chips. 95 cent jacket price with 200 titles listed (including 5 Giants). Though not indicated, this copy is from the library of T. R. Smith, who was chief editor at Boni & Liveright during the 1920s. More of Smith's Modern Library collection is available.
Synopsis
The Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin is the traditional name for the unfinished record of his own life written by Benjamin Franklin from 1771 to 1790; however, Franklin himself appears to have called the work his Memoirs. Although it had a tortuous publication history after Franklin's death, this work has become one of the most famous and influential examples of autobiography ever written.
