London, 7 October 1769. 2 pp. 9 x 7½ inches, in good condition, integral blank leaf docketed by the recipient. Field Marshal Lord Frederick Cavendish (1729-1803), younger son of William Cavendish, 3rd Duke of Devonshire, served in the wars in Europe 1758-1762. He took command of the 34th Regiment in 1760. ... to begin with myself I doubt My Lord the Regt. is but in a shabby condition, but I have ordered an entire new sett of accoutrements & such as I hope will meet with your Excellencys approbation at least, I understand they are such are approvd of here, & I hope they will soon be ready to send over.
