A substantial letter concerning working plans, with a lengthy reply. Franz Betz (1835-1900) was a widely respected bass-baritone, known particularly for his work with Richard Wagner, for whom he originated the role of Hans Sachs in "Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg." Botho von Hülsen (1815-1866) was a Prussian aristocrat and military veteran, who would become a prominent theatrical manager and artistic director of several stages in Germany.
