Yellow Springs, OH, 1853. 2 pp. 12mo. Single leaf of stationery, shallow chip at blank left margin with no loss of text. 2 pp. 12mo. The "father of American public school" writes to accept the invitation of the State Teacher's Association of Ohio to deliver their annual address, and to express his admiration. In part: "I sincerely hope the time has now come when I can establish cordial relations with a Society which I have long regarded with so much honor & respect.... I shall gladly avail myself of this ocassion to show the deep interest which I feel in the noble efforts of the Ohio Teachers of Common Schools." The letter dates from two months after Mann assumed the presidency of the newly established Antioch College at Yellow Springs.
