About This Item

2 Cromwell Road West, 27 January 1875. 2 pp. 7 x 4 inches, some light staining where formerly mounted. “I played the part of a soldier in the comic scenes of the pantomime. I had nothing to say. It was a mere utility part, if indeed it could be called a part at all. I was advised by Mr. C.Kean to begin at the bottom of the ladder & I did.” Hermann Vezin (1829-1910) was an American actor, born in Philadelphia, and educated at the University of Pennsylvania. He went to England at York and obtained and engagement there in 1850. His London début was made at the Princess's Theatre in 1852. Most of his acting was performed in England. He acted in Dr. Davey (1866); Man o' Airlie (1867); Son of the Soil (1872); As You Like It (1875); Daniel Druce, which ran for one hundred and six times at the Haymarket (1876); and Olivia (1878). He became known as a teacher of elocution and as a writer.
