London, 4 August 1872. 1 page 8½ x 5½ inches, right margin slightly ragged, otherwise good. Johann Georg Varrentrapp (1809-1886), German doctor, one of the pioneers of public health care in Germany. Influenced by Edwin Chadwick he studied public health care, workers' housing , protection against infectious diseases, vaccination, the water supply and the proper sanitation of cities, the prison system, etc.
