1930s. Original autograph signature of British playwright and novelist Clemence Dane, written in vintage fountain pen ink on a 4” x 3” piece of paper. Fine. Clemence Dane was the pseudonym of Winifred Ashton (1888- 1965) and is the author of A Bill of Divorcement: A Play in Three Acts, The Babyons, First the Blade: A Comedy for Growth, The Way Things Happen: A Story in Three Acts, Broome Stages, Will Shakespeare; An Invention, The King Waits, etc. She won an Academy Award (with Anthony Pelissier) for Vacation from Marriage, a film released in the Britain as Perfect Strangers, starring Robert Donat and Deborah Kerr.
