Boston, 1860. unbound. 1 page, 8 x 5 inches, Boston, June 11, 1860, concerning an invalid gentleman who was born with an infirmity which makes labor utterly impossible, in part: "He can now get a place which will yield him $60 a year, and possibly $20 more...I have agreed to be responsible for $20 a year. As I believe him worthy, truly worthy - the kindest character..." Throughout his lifetime, Dr. Channing spent nearly his entire savings assisting "paupers" and the disenfranchised. Fine condition.<br/><br/> First American physician to use anesthesia / etherization in childbirth, and reported it in the New England Journal of Medicine & Surgery in 1847. He was especially known for his acts of kindness in assisting poor people.<br/><br/>
