New York: Frederick A. Stokes & Brother, 1889. Hardcover. Very Good. Green cloth spine with illustrated papered boards. Fore-corners worn. Interior is unmarked. The title page has some small areas of surface loss (most noticeably affecting part of the letter M of both the author and the illustrator's name). Light wear to frontispiece illustration. Pages show a few minor smudges, else internally clean. 12 full-page color chromolithographs. 25 leaves, each printed on one side. 9 x 7 inches. 1889 printing of Babes of the Year, first published in 1888. Illustrations by Maud Humphrey (1868-1940), a commercial illustrator, watercolorist, suffragette, and the mother of the actor Humphrey Bogart. Verses by the American poet, Edith Matilda Thomas (1854-1925).
