The author, a photographer by trade, in 1941 took a WWII volunteer assignment with the American Field Service: volunteer ambulance drivers who served with the British Eighth Army in North Africa. This a long unpublished account of one man's journey across a world torn apart with only his camera and his moral convictions to guide him. Filled with many B&W photographs of the war in North Africa the book documents the brutality of was and the resilience of the human spirit. A clean pristine copy.
