Tokyo: Okura Magobei, 1884. First edition. Wraps. Very good. Volume 2 of the three volume set: "Chi" (Ground Birds). Printed paper covers bound in the Japanese style with folded leaves. Japanese text followed by exquisite depictions of a variety of birds in their natural environment, not only those native to Japan, but also exotic birds. The illustrations are subtle colored woodblocks, esteemed for their beauty and realism.
A very copy light soil and wear to the covers.
