David Owen, (born 1938), is a British politician and physician. He was Labour Foreign Secretary 1977 to 1979; in 1981 Owen was one of the 'Gang of Four' who left the Labour Party to found the Social Democrat Party (SDP). This book is his personal account of how he attempted to bring about a peaceful settlement in the 1990s of the Balkan War, in the horror and torment of ethnic cleansing, war crimes, racism, nationalism and religious intolerance. With Bibliography and Index. D/w has a short edge tear (25mm) on rear panel; else a fine copy, in a very good plus d/w, of a SCARCE first edition, first printing SIGNED BY DAVID OWEN.
