Edinburgh: William Blackwood and Sons , 1880. Charles Kirkpatrick Sharpe (15 May 1781 - 17 March 1851) was an Scottish poet, artist, and antiquary. In 1823 he published his Ballad Book, which in 1880 was re-edited by David Laing, with some additions from Sharpe's manuscripts. The First edition printed in 1823 for private distribution (30 copies) Here we have the 1880 edition and even this book is believed to have been one of only 250 copies. There is an inked 781 inside front pastedown, but this does not necessarily indicate a numbered copy. Is now a Rare book on the open market. ;xxiii, 183 p. col. illus. (portrait) pl. 21 cm. A sound copy, with rubs to the leather spine, but it is not frayed in any way. Binding is tight, pages excellent. With 4 newspaper cuttings affixed to pastedown and fep, present but not offensive or impeding the text. . Hard Cover. Very Good. 8vo.
