New York: Signet, 1963. First Edition - Paperback. Signed by the author Roy Chanslor to his publisher: “To Kurt Enoch with my best regards, Roy Chanslor”. The basis of the classic film for which Lee Marvin won an Academy Award, also starring Jane Fonda. Very good bright copy with some minor tearing to the top of the spine. From the library of Dr. Kurt Enoch (1895-1982) who was a noted German publisher, forced to flee the Nazis, landing in New York in 1940. In 1948, Dr. Enoch co-founded and became President of New American Library - Signet Books which became one of the successful and acclaimed post-war publishing houses. Enoch went on to become one of the most highly regarded figures in American book publishing. Signet #D2269
