Boston, Massachusetts: Thomes & Talbot, 1875. First Edition. Three-quarter leather over boards. Very Good. Two volumes in one binding--12 complete issues bound without individual covers or advertisements. Small quarto, 9 1/2" tall, 596 viii + 596 pages, three-quarter brown leather over marbled boards with gilt spine titles. A very good, clean, sturdy hard cover volume overall with moderate shelf wear, leather rubbed through to boards at the corners; hinges and binding solid, paper clean and moderately yellowed. This is the publisher's edition, printed from the original plates and includes all of the editorial material (articles, stories, poetry, etc.) of the separate issues but lacks the advertisements and individual covers. It was the practice of the time for most of the better literary magazines to issue such editions before melting down the original printers' plates.
