The jacket has some edge wear, a two inch closed tear, and a few tape repairs on the reverse. Subtitled on the jacket "World Series History 1903 - 1942." With a four page advertising flyer for this book laid in. With many black & white photo illustrations of baseball greats on the big stage.

Milwaukee: Joseph J. Krueger, 1946. Hardcover. Fine/Very Good. Third printing. Fine in very good or better dustwrapper with very minor wear. A history of the World Series from 1903 to 1945. This copy bears the bookplate of Baseball Commissioner A.B. ("Happy") Chandler. Chandler, a former Governor and Senator from Kentucky, succeeded Kenesaw Mountain Landis as Commissioner of Baseball in 1945. He presided over baseball for six pivotal and controversial years, most importantly supporting Brooklyn owner Branch Rickey when he signed Jackie Robinson in 1945 and integrated Major League Baseball in 1947. Landid had staunchly opposed any attempts at integration during his long tenure. A nice association.
