About This Item
(np. 1882): Edgewood Publishing Co. First Edition. Octavo. 484pp., The object of the author was to give a fair, truthful account of the course of treatment adopted by the rebel authorities toward the poor unfortunate Union soldiers who fell into their hands, and to avoid all artificial coloring or statements that are not in strict conformity with the truth, in such a statement as he would be willing to answer for at the great day of final account. A majority of this horrible treatment was found at Andersonville. Bound in blue pictorial gilt cloth lettered and decorated in black and gilt, spine gilt but faded, wear to spine ends, wear to corners, evidence of removal of previous owner's bookplate, page edge toned. A good copy.
