Frontispiece and 7 plates in colour plus 48 pages of black and white illustrations, many photographic, and further illustrations and charts in the text. Some wear and tear to the jacket plus a little soiling, a decent copy overall.

Large 8vo. xii, 228 pp. Publisher's blue-grey cloth, blue lettered to the spine and upper board with a matching illustration to the upper cover, dust jacket, inscribed on the half title "To Commander Giddy with grateful thanks for all his helpful advice & co-operation. from Peter Scott / November 1945". Frontispiece and 7 plates in colour plus 48 pages of black and white illustrations, many photographic, and further illustrations and charts in the text. A little wear and tear to the jacket edges, very good overall. Commander Osman Cyril Horton Giddy (1900-80) served in the Royal Navy as a young man, earning a D.S.C. for service during a raid on Kronstadt in 1919. He was stationed at HMS Beehive, Felixstowe in the Second World War and was assigned the compllation of a monthly review of British Coastal Forces amongst other duties.
